Artist Statement
I create kinetic sculptures from scrap steel recovered from the rusting scrap heaps of northeast Ohio. I utilize an oxy-acetylene welding torch to heat cut shape and weld steel into sculptures that reflect my belief in the importance and the ability to find balance in all things. I work to create intimate pieces whose movement is generated directly by the viewer. There are no motors magnets ball bearings or fans. The principal is simple and basic a small point of contact virtually no friction. I strive to create works that are simple and yet create movement that is elegant surprising calming fun or in some way stirs emotion in the viewer.
