Artist Statement
This artist is driven by a passion for creating texture on metal–textures that represent organic surfaces or stylized images of botanicals. The most frequently used technique is etching. Most designs and patterns are hand-drawn directly on sheet metal which is then etched. Others are drawn on paper and scanned to create digital images or they are created electronically. These digital images are output onto transparencies or special paper that is used to heat transfer the images to the surface of the metal which is then etched. In addition to etching the artist uses reticulation to create other textures and traditional fabrication and finishing techniques to produce completed pieces.
