Artist Statement
I’ve always been intrigued on texture and the human form. My work is very much about the process of making a piece and the enjoyment of the physical manipulation I use to create a finished work. The photographs I create aim to juxtapose crumbling man made structures with the classic beauty of nude figures. I use film to achieve the images that I make so I am able to be hands on with my art. My process involves altering the original negatives and pairing multiple images together to be printed into a final piece. I make photographs that use the contour of a body either to follow or be followed by the contrasting texture. I do this with the intention of keeping the eye moving across the image giving time for the mind to wonder and question where or what the background is. I aim to play with what the eye expects by bringing two images together to form an appealing single unit. My new work with liquid emulsion on metal takes a look at singular objects each having a quietness about them
