Artist Statement
My inspiration was my grandma Blanche. She lived to 100 and taught me to crochet when she was 90. Originally a painter while in art school I began by mixing yarns like paint creating great combinations in fiber with color and texture. This led to experimentation with other mediums and finally to crocheted jewelry using wire and semi-precious stones pearls shells and sea glass. The fun is in combining colors and textures plus the juxtaposition of objects. I rely on the Southwest Florida environment for inspiration in the colors and objects I use. My pieces can be worn multiple times and each time a new treasure is discovered.
