Artist Statement
Born and raised in Colombia I always had a passion for wood which I shared with my sister. After nurturing my talent and becoming learned in the art of wood sculpture I shared the fruits of this talent with my family. After moving to Miami in 2003 my art subtlety but surely became known within the local art scene. It has only been 4 years since I unveiled my latest art series yet these years mark a beginning in my quest to conquer a new country with traditional Colombian artisanship determined by my sense of culture which penetrates continents pines and fruits alike. Each particular hand crafted fruit and base is unique. All pieces are created utilizing solid Urapan (Flaxinus chinensis ) and a mixture of vibrantly rich colors which are implemented during the art of staining the sculptured wood.
