Nile Kramer was born & raised in Istanbul; coming from a country where most things are handmade she paints & designs ever since she could remember. She takes a new & modern approach to the ancient technique of felting by combining different fabrics such as silk cotton with natural merino cashmere and hand spun art yarns. The technique she uses is called nuno felting” which requires pure elbow grease & hours of labor in order to agitate the wool design into the fabric. The result is “wearable art” just like a pearl created by the agitation of sand inside of an oyster. Each of her pieces are unique having been hand felted to create distinctive textiles with a tactile quality that is hard to resist.
