Artist Statement
I think of nature fairies mermaids sea creatures and collecting shells on the beach when I create my jewelry. I design my jewelry to have movement through flowing natural forms. Inspired by my love of antique jewelry I feel drawn to combine natural forms in an antique style. Jewelry for me is not just a static adornment but miniature sculpture to be experienced by the wearer to be able to manipulate the articulated piece at will as if it’s a living sculpture. The wearer will find something new each time they wear their piece.I hope it will transport the wearer to another time to childhood dreams and fantastical worlds. I love to experiment in shapes stones and various metals. Each piece starts with the stone embedded in wax and I carve away the wax to reveal it’s final form. I work in gold and silver alloyed with palladium as well as Shibuichi a Japanese alloy of copper and silver. I love the contrast of the Shibuichi and brightness of the silver.
