Working with glass has provided infinite what if” moments for me at the torch. Watching the hard glass transform to a molten state is a never ending experiment of shaping and embellishment. I use many different materials in my design process including silver gold and copper leaf enamel powders reduction frit blends glass shards latticino and stringers. I strive to work and embellish the glass so it is reminiscent of stone. Layering on enamel powders and bringing the bead very close to the tip of the torch boils the surface. The patterns that are created from this technique is what pushes me to find the next great mix of colors. The beaded structures are mainly bead crochet. I take yards of strung beads and crochet them one at a time to create sinuous ropes to wrap and tie different ways. Chinese netting and beaded beads are also elements incorporated in my designs.”
