Artist Statement
Each piece is handmade with lampworked glass beads created in my studio. Lampworking is the process of using a torch to melt and shape glass. Rods of glass are heated over a torch and the molten glass is manipulated in the flame using various tools until the desired shape is achieved. Each bead is hand formed. I am frequently asked how I develop my color combinations and designs. Each collection begins with a palette which I develop as an artist would create a painting combining colors and beads ensuring that there are highlights depth and texture. I then design the individual pieces. Each design has a multitude of semi-precious gems that are meticulously wire-worked throughout the piece and adds movement and interest. My designs are carried in galleries and boutiques across the country and have been published in Making Glass Beads by Cindy Jenkins. I work in many mediums which I believe enhances my jewelry and designs.
