Artist Statement
My work consists of wheel-thrown double- walled forms. Many of my vessels are made of combined forms; some are thrown as a single piece. I use a low-fire white stoneware clay from Great Lakes Clay Company in Illinois and usually clear or white glazes that do not detract from the forms. Each vessel is stamped with my makers mark and a number. I number each piece consecutively and this number serves as the pots title. Often I include stamped words that relate to the shape or to my state of mind when I was finishing the piece. My vessels are electric kiln fired to cone 09. Color and surface decoration tends to be absent or minimal. My work focuses on form.
