Artist Statement
My work can be described as a construction: the finished product of painting and layering mediums like acrylics marble dust oils pastels inks patinas and pigments. I draw my inspiration from the juxtaposition of aging industry and its natural landscape. With marble dust and medium I’m able to re-purpose the Fresco and Impasto techniques. My most notable technique is the blistering effect: intense heat is applied to wet mediums to form blisters that showcase all preceding layers of materials used. I use texture as a means of communicating my aesthetic and my work is often confused for ceramics–the confusion is a success in challenging ancient techniques granting them contemporary force.
