Artist Statement
I am native of Warsaw Poland where I studied art and architecture. As an artist I am inspired by the transformation of nature which I express onto silk fabric. I strive to combine European elegance and sense of color with an American vitality and sense of humor. Leveraging 17th century Polish silk manufacturing and design techniques I deconstruct this classic methodology and rebuild it with innovative processes and technologies. My experience and development of individual silk treatment techniques produces unique and beautiful effects. The process begins with pristine white stretched silk which is then permeated with a proprietary color palette. Dyes applied during the painting process are permanently fixed by steaming. Recently I began experimenting with the ancient technique of felting which incorporates new fibers and fine textures onto a silk base. My wearable works of art are recognized by The Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and The Art Institute of Chicago.
