Artist Statement
This project started out as a way to decorate my new condo walls without buying any of the mass produced Chicago” artwork that a big box store would carry. I still wanted the Chicago theme without traditional skyline scenes. I turned to landmarks in my new neighborhood the West Loop and created collages with a rough black and white feel. Eventually I expanded to more recognizable downtown landmarks keeping in the same abstract overlapping style. People seem to be drawn to specific places for personal reasons and it's a way for them to represent their lives in Chicago on a wall without being entirely literal.”
