Artist Statement
I create because I must. It is my driving force. Each piece is a representation of my desire to render, only the materials change. My wall and wearable sculptures are inspired by my travels, by what I see before me, by what I covet. The Materials and methods are consistent throughout all of my work. The use of non ferrous metals and endless techniques were honed as I studied Metalsmithing under Lee Peck and received an M.f.A. in 1996. My detailed castings are a natural result of my rendering abilities. Other skills such as fabrication, electroforming, etching, printmaking, anodizing, forging, reticulation, and metal drawing are incorporated into each one of a kind piece of art. I am “old school”, I do not work with precious metal clay and do not use any commercial findings. My work is all originals, no molds or forms of reproduction.
