Artist Statement
Having started as a painter, I discovered that weaving is like painting with fibers. Designing small weavings has provided me with an art that is mobile. Necklaces are woven around the center focal point. Tapestries become shape/linear designs that are free-form or ridigly geometric. Waxed linen forms the base of each weaving to provide strength and stability to the weaving. Cotton fibers are woven with an upholstery needle using various stitches, making each piece very labor intensive.
