Artist Statement
In my etchings there is an underlying tone of a struggle with the personal environment. These textural figures compare to a soul as if it had physical form acting in response to its feelings and attitudes. Whether it is a reaction or fight against inner thoughts retreating from an outside force or giving into a supportive one there is an uncertainty of the outcome. Each decision or experience will either maintain the wholeness of the soul or break it therefore leaving a heavy weight of responsibility to have correct decisions and attitudes. The imagery is abstracted with aggravated clusters tree formed appendages and eyeless heads which leave the viewer to connect from his or her soul and personal experiences in the natural realm of life.
