This latest floral collection by Kavan Geary brings together unique compositions with captivating environments. The inspiration for the lighting effects Kavan wished to achieve is based off studies still life lighting used by classical painters. With each collection I like to further push the boundarys of photography. Creating new equipment new photographic techniques and making use of the latest print mediums. To explain the process by which the image is created it is best to think of and exciting landscape or a beautiful sunset and how the character of the light and the atmospherics contribute to the scene. This collection is created in a similar way in an indoor studio. I start by sketching a composition. Then the flowers are arranged. An environment is added be it fog mist or any number of combinations to create the right look. Then specialized lights are used to complete the scene. When all the elements are prefect I take the photo and the work is complete.
