Artist Statement
The focus of my artwork is to create a convergence of fashion and industry with a twist of elegance. I use found objects such as clarinet parts ancient Roman glass boat oarlocks calipers rusted steel and antique watchmaker tools including precious and semi-precious stones and in some pieces 14 k gold. My creative process is spontaneous and fluid seldom driven by preconceived designs. Rather the diverse objects are placed together explored and either selected or rejected as part of the finished artistic expression. Each piece grows by surprising and mystifying stages into a final sculptural statement. The result is a body of work that is constantly in flux. Consequently I find that my work is often outside the boundaries of conventional jewelry and constantly probing the edges of current fashion. Recent creations have merged into the Steampunk genre providing fashion choices that stimulate the imagination.
