Artist Statement
Ever since I can remember Ive always been passionate about photography. As a teen I saved my babysitting money to buy my first SLR camera. In college I learned how to develop pictures in a darkroom. After spending the first part of my adult life in public relations I changed my professional focus to full-time photography in 2011. My recent work is centered on a series of digital images titled Urban Decay. Using bracketed exposures and a simple composition Ive shined a spotlight on an abandoned railroad track bridge covered with graffiti and breathed new life into the vandalized steel structure. By focusing my lens on the rivets that hold it together Ive created abstract images alive with vibrant color and texture that disguises its origin and reinvents itself as a piece of fine art.
