Artist Statement
Jewelry that pursues a journey of transformation, starting with cold, hard silver and gold, precious but lifeless. Hammering, burnishing, bending, sculpting and oxidizing the metal creating the textural sense of fabric or stone. The artist is drawn to the simplicity of form for the individual elements, allowing for a greater exploration in color and texture.
Attention to detail is evident at every turn from hand picking each precious or semi-precious stone, to the finishing touches noticeable only to the wearer such as the addition of a gemstone to the clasp. Many of the artist’s pieces also have the added benefit of being reversible – a pendant that has two faces or a ring that is detailed to showcase a gemstone or hammered gold – adding versatility to the intrinsic value of jewelry.
When worn, the jewelry achieves its ultimate goal, to enhance the beauty of the wearer, to complete the transformation by truly joining art with life.
