Artist Statement
I am intrigued by how things move. I capture the kinetic energy lyrical motion and essential character of natural forms by exploiting the transparent nature of the watercolor medium. Simplified shapes in multiple layers and washes form patterns that move you through the painting. I work in both an additive and subtractive manner sometimes scrubbing away color to create softness other times leaving edges hard and colors saturated.
