Artist Statement
There is currently two bodies of work. One is a combination of blown and cast glass. A hot casting is fused to a blown bubble and opened into a bowl. These pieces show control and refinement in form and color. The intent of the color work is to work with the contour of the bowl to flow from edge to center. The casting gives the blown bowl a foundation and it’s geometry and surface an interesting counterpoint to the blowing process. The other series is blown pieces that are tabletop or wall mounted. A preperation of fused colors is divided and each segment is blown into a piece. The finished works can be shown in groups. This series is an exploration into the limits of working assymetrically in a typically symmetrical medium. Working in pairs suggests relationship. Some feel like one begets another; some a sense of multiplication or division and others action and reaction.
