Artist Statement
As an artist I am always amazed with color and the depth it produces on fabrics. This allows me to combine my process and the influence of nature to create a contemporary look at the art of the wall hanging. All my work is hand painted on natural fabrics and original. I start my process by stretching white fabric on a large table and then draw & paint my image with fiber reactive dyes and resists. The fabric is then rolled in paper heat set in a professional steamer. It is washed re-stretched and dried. Each piece is then sewn with a cotton backing and is finished with tassels. When the process merges with the idea it creates art on fabric and a refreshing form of painting through the medium and fluidity of fiber. I hope you also enjoy this process too.
