Artist Statement
All these photos were shot personally by Don Sparks during the 1960’s and 70’s. They consist of a number of prominant personalities in the area of sports and the arts including dozens of Hall-of-Famers and US Olympians. Don has over 50 photos in the Baseball Hall of Fame and has had cover photos for Sport Ebony and Jet magazines. The images enclosed include Cab Callaway the sculptor Richard Hunt Arthur Ashe and Buck ONeil on his first day as the first black coach in baseball (in 1962). These photos were digitized from the original negatives most of which are still in our possession.
