Artist Statement
My images are found images. Anyone who has said I wish I had my camera. understands the value of the found image. In thirty years working as a photojournalist I have come to understand what Henri Cartier-Bresson called the decisive moment when all the elements come together to make a compelling photograph possible. These photographs are not staged or arranged for the camera. Computer manipulation is kept to a minimum. You wont find a blue sky from Hawaii above the south rim of the Grand Canyon or a tree from the southern hemisphere on the shore of the Great Lakes. Images are cropped and sized. Contrast and density are adjusted as needed color balance is corrected and areas are dodged and burned to lighten or darken tones in the final prints. The images are proofed and then printed under my direction on acid free heavyweight fine art paper made from bamboo a highly renewable source as limited edition Giclee prints or canvas wraps. I mount mat and frame the prints.
