Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) has announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition in Illinois’ 10th District. This year, local high school students submitted artwork virtually on the theme of “E Pluribus Unum,” or “Out of many, one.”

Two experienced art professionals — Amy Amdur, founder of Amdur Productions, and Ann Rintz, curator of Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art at the College of Lake County, — judged the entries without seeing artists’ names or schools.

The first-place entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year, along with winning works from every district in the country. The second-place entry will be displayed in Congressman Schneider’s district office in Lincolnshire, and the third-place entry will be in his D.C., office.

Janette Martinez-Tolentino of Waukegan High School earned first place for her piece titled “Stronger Together.”

Angie Ordonez of Waukegan High School earned secondor her work titled “Great Ideas for a Great Nation.”

Lauren Fink of Warren Township High School placed third with her work, “Share the Sweet Light.”

An album of all 2020 student submissions is available on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pg/CongressmanBradSchneider.
