Artist Statement
Reminiscent of excavated relics my mixed media metal jewelry is hand fabricated to feel like old memories rediscovered. Using recycled metals brings an inherent history but I continue to torture the metal through reticulation folding fusing casting keum-boo and a variety of unconventional ways to bring the story to life. The pieces are all about little details texture & subtle color hues through patina and oxidation. But mostly they are about conveying a message of hope and inspiration. I have a particular bent toward boxes and vessels that open – little vignettes where every detail plays a role in the story. My work is very identifiable by the organic & botanical influences and the highly textured forged metals that are layered with beautiful patina.
