Artist Statement
Film has become the story telling medium of choice. With a simple establishing shot a director can set the tone and mood for all that is to come. I began to experiment with a series of stills that resembled these shots. The results were moody and dramatic and created a palpable set of feelings in the viewer including joy sadness and romantic elation. Since that first series I have worked hard to create a group of photos that continues to produce emotion in the viewer often staging elaborate scenes with models picture cars and unique locations to create the necessary ambience for the photo. When I began shooting I was looking to simply take a picture of a location that was representative of the location. In the years that followed I began to add a sense of purpose emotion and mystery to these photos. The results are a series of cinematic styled stills that should (hopefully) feel as though they were plucked from part of a much larger story.
