Artist Statement
I create oxidized handthrown stoneware pottery. Many of the pieces are incised with various motifs utilizing primitive animal pictographs and/or geometric patterns. I also produce hand painted pieces with intricate floral decorations. The pieces are decorated in contemporary colored glazes. Some of the pieces incorporate wood copper and wrought iron. Most of the work would be considered functional including teapots vases bowls mugs covered jars and platters. I enjoy working with clay a natural substance produced by the earth. It is an anceint art form which I feel still has a place in our modern world. I hope my pieces reflect a respect for the past and show my own personal interpretation of the medium.
