Artist Statement
The range of artistry imagination and inventiveness expressed in the creation of fine writing instruments now rivals that of other fine artists. The pens and other lathe art collaboratively created are at the cutting edge of the resurgence of pen making to its rightful place as a distinctive art form. We craft writing instruments from colorful hand poured resins and vintage materials. Our resins are blended and swirled together to produce color and light effects that may be bold and audacious sedate and mysterious cool and demure; but always striking unusual and memorable. Unusual materials abalone shell cactus skeleton pheasant feathers dinosaur bone semi-precious minerals snake skin are embedded in many of the pen bodies. Common but unexpected and fun materials like chili peppers leather fabric watch parts and computer components are incorporated in others. The glass holders and rests are essential to completing and displaying the art piece.
