Artist Statement
I create jewelry that is unique and wearable using semi-precious stones sterling silver and other natural materials including pearls shells and leather. I combine a variety of techniques including my own method of crocheting bezels wire wrapping and stringing beads to showcase the beauty of the stones. I am primarily self taught and find jewelry making to be a way to combine the various craft interests that I have studied over my life with my love of stones and fashion. I like to combine the textures of the crocheted cotton with stone and metal. I developed a method of crocheting bezels around cabochons that perfectly fits the bezel to the shape of the stone. The bezel is secured by the crochet work on the back of each piece. I find inspiration in jewelry making techniques and materials that I discover on my world travels and by the natural variations of the stones I use.
