Artist Statement
I create art from mixed media I use primarily paper paint and ink. My process varies a bit with each piece however my methods of achieving the final image are always through a layering process. The same materials and subject matter yield an entirely different feel and can symbiotically hang side by side. All of my works are one of a kind made by hand. I layer materials like paint ink pencil paper or wood beneath the line work to build color and value. I build up layers of selected materials using brushes my fingers or knives with impulse as my guide. My goal is to make each image different in color textures and materials–while my line work remains the same there are no two alike. My work materials and process constantly evolve due to the nature of using found pieces like antique wallpaper old maps or mechanical gears. Original finishing touches like antique framing complete my oeuvre.
