Artist Statement
A physical labor of strength skill and spirit expressed in clay. An embodiment of classical form & sensuality. I rarely preconceive a design the large works evolve in scale design & direction as I work on it. I create in the moment moved more so by feeling” as opposed to intellectualizing. The process is free flowing & spontaneous. Primarily low fire heavy grog sculpture clay all the works are oxidation fired glazes applied by brush or airbrush methods occasionally after an oxidation glaze firing I'll pit fire the piece in an open pit) for a more organic finish. A small selection of one of kind wall pieces & a limited selection of handbuilt sculptural feline sculptures I'll opt to raku glaze & raku fire! Career spans 30 yrs but my love of clay began in the mid-60's!. The large vessels have been acclaimed ” A testament of passionate talent and dedication to her gift” My personal motto simply: Take what you've been given give thanks and use it”.”
