Artist Statement
I construct one-of-a-kind jewelry out of raw materials using an array of metalsmithing techniques. My main process used is fabrication. I start by hand-drawing my designs and then use processes such as soldering forming piercing and a number of finishing techniques to complete my work. I am influenced strongly by the beauty of natural stones and minerals as well as my Native American background. I also let myths or legends from around the globe influence my work. Therefore many of my pieces have concepts or stories behind them. This always helps the wearer to appreciate and connect with a piece of my jewelry on more than a physical level. I incorporate many different semi-precious stones in my work such as: turquoise opal agate jasper and many more setting them mainly in silver. I strive for a marriage between organic beauty and industrial craftsmanship in my work from start to finish. I make all my chains and components by hand as well as photograph all my own work.
