Artist Statement
I paint because of an intuitive impulse to convey a visual reflection of my most interesting and stylized inner landscapes. An impulse nurtured at an early age by my Artist mother; and that I later developed during my formal education in Art and Interior Design. Collaborating with her in the development of the technique and process I began inspired by geometric shapes botanical forms physical processes such as crystallization fluidity oxidation microscopic images and various branching organic patterns. These subjects continue to influence my work. I’m interested in objects finishes and effects that look like they have a story to tell. The rust and metallic patinas in my work are heavy and constant signs of time past and things seen” representing a sense of crystallized wisdom I seek to obtain in my own life. The addition of these unique materials also serve to ground me throughout the process which is heavily layered tactile and unpredictable in itself.”
