Artist Statement
I combine both paintbrush and pallet knife along with various other useful objects and applications to achieve various preliminary thicknesses of paint and texture. I then use sculpture and carving to enhance and create the richly textured paint on the canvas. The brilliant layers of colors and vibrant contrast create a calm serene peaceful effect which helps the mind connect to God and the universe thru my contemporary approach to Sculptured Paintings. My paintings invite you to be inspired by the metaphor of the mystery and the journey of life along with a spiritual retreat to the viewer. 3-dimensional texture not only enhances the boldness of the paint and the depth of the image; but also allows the external light to impact upon the painting creating a constant change of what the viewer observes.
