Artist Statement
I began teaching myself the art of making jewelry as a child playing in my grandmother’s jewelry box. I started making glass beads in 2003 to complement my jewelry designs and have become blissfully lost in the world of molten glass. I find it is mesmerizing and soothing to watch the glass move as it is heated by the flame of a torch and empowering to turn this molten glob into a work of art. Each bead is individually created and balanced in the flame then fully annealed in a digitally controlled kiln to ensure its strength. I love doing live demonstrations of glass making in her booth at art shows. Educating the public about creating glass art is important to her. She also teaches lampwork bead making. I am very proud to be published in The Flow magazines annual Gallery of Women in Glass. The Flow is a glass journal for the flameworking community and I have been selected as part of this juried gallery for the fifth consecutive year.
