Artist Statement
I’m an innovative jewelry designer in the Chicago suburbs. Trained as a metalsmith under renowned professors Fred Fenster and Lisa Gralnick I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Photography from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In addition I’ve attended courses at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle Maine. I built my own studio where I’ve been creating handcrafted jewelry since 2005. My background in sculptural hollowware strongly influence my design considerations as a jeweler. Creating designs with sterling silver 14k gold-filled or 14k gold by using metalsmithing techniques such as forging raising piercing riveting and more I’m endlessly compelled to devise new structures with these traditional processes. Whether deconstructing reconfiguring or sculpturally linking simple forms I’m inspired by the discovery of innovative design solutions. My designs are unique and versatile conversation pieces often described as modern classic.
