Artist Statement
After graduating from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1970 in advertising design I began making jewelry for the fun of it. By 1975 this avocation had become a vocation earning my income exclusively from making and marketing my work. Over the years I have practiced many different jewelry-making techniques to be able to achieve production of imagined pieces of artwork. Enjoying the production process from start to finish is important to me because I am my only employee. I work in silver copper and bronze and use gemstones and enameling to add color and texture to the piece of work. Reoccurring themes in my work include dance rhythms of life situational occurrences and nature itself. I strive to add movement and flow to each piece as well as good design and an adequate use of positive and negative space. I have marketed my work through juried art and craft shows across the country. My work is sold and galleries and craft shops in Louisiana and other states.
