Artist Statement
In this modern digital age the photographic community these days refers to me as a dinosaur for my reluctance to capture my images on silicon as opposed to silver. For the last 3 decades armed with my 6×7 camera system I have developed a passion for traditional photography; with a love of the dynamic range vivid colour and realism that only film affords. I thrive on the challenge of making photographs that rely purely on classic technique rather than opting to darkroom or computer manipulation. Making the image perfect at the time of capture requires not just a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of the equipment I use but also an intimate understanding of nature an intensive amount of planning and some good luck so that when Mother Nature presents that one brief moment in time when she shows herself in all her glorious natural beauty I plan to be there armed with my cooler full of film and ready to share an image of that fleeting moment with the world
