A Quiz For Artists: Rate Your Readiness
Artists, even though it is February, this is prime time to be getting ready for summer. Please answer the following questions to get your Readiness Score.
1. Have you reviewed your tent, weights, shelves, and walls?
a. Yes, all done. I am ready to go.
b. I know I need some parts and new walls…I’ll get to it soon.
c. I’ll use what I have and throw something together last minute.
2. Are you building your art inventory for this summer’s festivals?
a. Yes, working daily on new work that I’m really excited about
b. I’m taking time off…I’ll get to this before the fests, I work best under pressure.
c. I’m going to pull out the unsold stuff from last year, make copies of what sold best.
3. Have you applied to the festivals you want to be in?
a. Yes, I am on top of all applications, used new jury images and feel optimistic.
b. I applied to a few festivals I like, have a few invitations, and will wing it as dates get closer.
c. I’m going to apply late to festivals, pay late fees, and see what I can get into with my old jury images.
How To Score: Give yourself 4 for each “a”, 3 for each “b”, and 2 for each “c”.
Scores: 10-12: You have a bright season ahead! Go get ’em.
8-9: You are doing ok….still room for a little improvement.
6-7: We suggest you put a little more time into planning now for a great summer later.
