Artist Statement
I am a self-taught painter and my art represents the rural manufacturing environment in Western Illinois of which I was raised. I grew up with the sounds of trains and factories in my ear and farm houses and big skies on the horizon. I try to include these subjects in the majority of my artwork. I paint in oils and try to portray honest wholesome art that will last for generations. I am a direct descendant of German landscape painter Johann Alexander Thiele. He is often credited as the inventor of the pastel.
