Artist Statement
My work is influenced by a broad range of design schools spanning the history of stained glass in the United States and Europe. I especially enjoy experimenting with bringing architecture and building techniques into my work with stained glass.
I work with both the “Tiffany” copper foil method and the lead came method. My work encompasses stained glass panels and three-dimensional works. Recently, I began incorporating three-dimensional architectural elements into my two-dimensional, flat glass panels. Doing this allows me to bring my building experience into my glass work. Whether it’s creating a three-dimensional lighthouse or letting the sails of the ship come out of the piece, these effects bring dimensionality and added visual interest to an otherwise flat piece.
While the subject matter of my work is highly varied, I strive to create pieces that are visually interesting and produced using techniques that ensure lasting beauty.
