Artist Statement
The texture shape and color inherent in beautiful gemstones pearls and 'found objects' are the inspiration for the collection. Details like hand carved mother of pearl leaves and flowers and 100 year old Hallmarked and engraved fobs make each one of a kind piece a treasure. Coming from a 20 year career merchandising and designing in the women's garment industry orients me to see these pieces as the a starting point for a wardrobe rather than the accessory. The signature Jardin collection of bracelets and necklaces is complimented by the precious and semi precious gemstone and pearl necklaces that highlight the materials being used. All are finished with beautiful clasps in addition to Antique and Vintage fobs and charms. Techniques used in my work include weaving Japanese seed beads Kumihimo stringing chain maille and soldering. I have found myself to be a hybrid of several disciplines from metalsmithing to weaving which gives me great freedom to explore engineer and imagine.
